I couldn't sleep last night. I didn't take a sleeping pill like I normally do and it was unusually hot in our apartment. So as I lay there, I somehow began thinking about religion, and then from there it wandered to politics, two things which I hate wasting thoughts on.
I think it really started because I keep seeing the ads for that movie coming out Religulous with Bill Maher. And I kinda want to see it and kinda don't. Then I saw an episode of Family Guy last night where Brian meets this girl and they started talking about being atheists.
And it got me thinking: atheists really get on my fucking nerves. It's a really extremist point of view to have, and they're completely preachy about it, so I really don't see much difference between them and a lot of religious fanatics. Both groups waste so much time talking about God or the lack thereof, when clearly whether there is one or not, the real obvious truth he has had NO interest in or direct involvement with humanity for at least the past couple millenia. His only influence on us still exists solely because we can't SHUT UP about him.
Speaking of not shutting up, I can't wait until this election year is over. I can't get away from the constant smug expressions of viewpoints, and the bickering, and the propaganda... how does anyone even know how to truly make their OWN decision when you're barraged every day with EVERYONE ELSE'S viewpoints?
And so now it comes to it again. I have to remake my decision every couple of years, but I know now: I've decided not to vote.
It goes against my principles. It always has. In fact, I still regret the one time I DID vote (2004) because I did it completely under peer pressure, and all I did was get caught up in everything my friends were worked up about, and I jumped on a bandwagon. Then I got disappointed, and subsequently starting talking crazy like I was going to move to Canada.
I won't ever vote again until there are more choices. Why should I have to side with one of only TWO groups? Why should I have to pick the lesser of two evils?
People as a group always make bad decisions. And the larger the group of people (say like half-a-nation), the worse the decision. So go ahead and make your decision people, I'm sure you can handle it without me. Then we can get on with our lives and you guys can complain for the next four years if you want. I won't.
And as for you people wondering where people like me get off, you DO it to US. Stop cramming your shit down everyone's throat.
